Here at the Village Screen, we love a bit of romance but sometime's Valentine's can be a bit too cheesy. So, we thought, why not organise an alternative Valentine's weekend at 92 Burton Road (near Kelham Island)?
We are kicking off romantic proceedings on Saturday 13th February with 90's classic, Pretty Woman. Audiences will be able to nosh down on pizza and prosecco whilst watching businessman Edward (Richard Gere) fall in love with hooker Vivian (Julia Roberts) – surely one of the BEST rom-coms of all time?!
On Sunday 14th February, we are mixing things up a bit with the brilliant and eccentric Moonrise Kingdom, directed by Wes Anderson. If you haven't seen this film YOU MUST. Two oddball twelve-year-olds fall in love, make a secret pact and run away together into the wilderness. This is a visually stunning film and the perfect alternative love story!
Don't have a date? Come as a single, come with a group, bring your cat...the love will be free flowing all night and so will the bar!
Both events will start at 6pm each night. There'll be music, delicious street food by Cowboys and Nether Edge Pizza Company, a fully stocked bar and comfy chairs.
Bring blankets, bring slippers, bring hot water bottles and snuggle down for the night in an amazing ex-industrial warehouse space. Pretty Women is classified 15. Moonrise Kingdom is classified PG. Tickets are £10 for adults (16+) or £7 for children, seniors and students. Film classifications must be adhered to.
