We are celebrating Valentine's with a screening of 10 Things I Hate About You Image

19th Jan 2017 -

Our Village Screen pop-up cinema is returning to 92 Burton Road in Sheffield on Valentine’s Day (Tuesday 14th February) to inject some Valentine’s magic and romance into the characterful warehouse on the edge of Kelham Island.

We will be turning 92 Burton Road into a beautiful Valentine’s cinema to screen 90’s quirky rom-com, 10 Things I Hate About You. 10 Things I Hate About You stars Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Larisa Oleynik and is based on Shakespeare's Taming Of The Shrew. A family rule forbids Bianca Stratford from dating until her rebellious, boy-hating older sister Kat gets a date. In an attempt to date Bianca, school heart-throb Joey “eat me” Donner pays Patrick Verona - a school outcast – to go on a date with Kat. But will Patrick thaw Kat’s cold heart?

The event will kick off with music by DJ Jimmy May and street food by Sheffield’s Nether Edge Pizza co. and Fancy an Indian? The Depot Bakery will be open during the event serving hot drinks and delicious patisserie and there will be a fully stocked bar within the venue serving prosecco, craft beers, wine and soft drinks. Audiences will be seated on beautiful vintage deckchairs to watch the film on a large screen within the warehouse space and there will also be some VIP sofa seats available, complete with hot water bottles, blankets and popcorn. As 92 Burton Road is unheated, we are encouraging audience members to wrap up warm and bring blankets.

Claire Hunt, Owner of the Village Screen, says: “We love that 92 Burton Road is a complete blank canvas and we’re looking forward to transforming it into a romantic cinema experience on Valentine’s Day, complete with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Valentine’s Day is for everyone, so whether you are single or coupled up, this event is for you. Don't forget to wrap up warm as 92 Burton Road is unheated and does get a little chilly in February.”

Tickets are priced at £12.00 for adults (over 16s) and £9.00 for children (12-15), students and seniors (over 60). There is minimum age of 12 for this event (due to the film classification). VIP sofa tickets are priced at £45.00 and include a double sofa for two, two blankets, two hot water bottles and two bags of Joe & Seph’s popcorn.

You can find out more about these events and buy tickets at www.thevillagegreenevents.co. Tickets go on sale on Friday 20th January at 12pm (noon).
